Happy 2nd Birthday Ezra!

August 26th is Ezra's 2nd Birthday!!! I can't believe that he is already two! He is such a good boy and a great helper. I am so happy that God gave us just the boy we wanted! Since his birthday fell on a Wednesday, we celebrated it last Saturday with a a Thomas the train party...Ezra's FAVORITE!!

Here is the birthday boy and mommy ready for the party to start!

...and here is what we looked like two years ago! We had no idea how much fun we were gonna have in the next two years!

Here's Ez with his Thomas cake that Granny made for him. Thanks Granny! He wasn't too sure how to blow out the candles.

...But he DID know how to dig into the cake...YUMMY!

Opening presents...

Granny and Poppy enjoying the party...

The BIG present was the grand finale.

It's a bicycle! (Well actually a tricycle)
YEA! We had a great party! Happy Birthday EZRA! We love you!!!!

This is not party related, but too funny not to post. Ezra posed these pictures himself...

Here are Ezra and Poppy sleeping on the couch...one of them is ACTUALLY sleeping, one of them is NOT...can you guess which one????

Oh look! He woke up to say CHEESE! Ha ha! I just love these babies to pieces!!!!

Up Late with Poppy Bailey

We were having one of our late night rendezvous so we decided to get crazy and take a few pics...

Here we are...

But then she got mad and gave me a wallop right in the nose!

...and then tried to pull my lip right off!

But then we made up so I gave her a kiss.

Hehe, we crack ourselves up!

Goodnight everyone! :)

Trust and obey, for there's no other way...

Caleb and I were in the car discussing why it is that we are still expected to follow God's principles even during the times when they seem completely illogical to us. Just about that time we looked back and saw Ezra reaching over his car seat and putting his hands in Poppy's face. (Something that is a BIG no-no, but we are working on it.) Caleb told him no, we don't do that, and not to touch Poppy anymore. As we continued our discussion, we noticed him lean over and poke her. At this point we were getting aggravated and Caleb told him again, "Do NOT touch Poppy anymore!" I mentioned I think he keeps doing it because he doesn't know he could accidentally hurt her, so he doesn't understand the REASON it's wrong. Caleb replied, I don't care if he understands "WHY," he just needs to do it because that's what I told him. We both just looked at each other and started laughing...this was the answer to what we had been discussing! We can't see the big picture and so we don't understand WHY things happen the way they do. To us, we can't see the reason why what we're doing is THAT wrong, so we justify it to ourselves and keep on disobeying God to our own demise without even realizing. I came across Proverbs 3: 5-6 and I hope that everyone reading this is trusting the Lord rather than their own understanding. In our family we always TRY to "Obey first, Understand later," and that is sometimes EXTREMELY difficult, especially when you have a logic based mind like I do! However, I think that mantra would do everyone good, because as much as we like to think we do, we don't know it all, and certainly not more than God -no matter who you are.

Weekend odds and ends

This weekend was pretty uneventful. We are trying to stay away from the public for a few weeks, so that makes for lots and lots of at home time! Bubsie spent most of the time doing what he always spends most of his time doing...playing with trains! I've never seen a kid love trains like this kid does and somehow he NEVER gets bored with it! In this picture he is making his "happy face" which is what you get when you tell him to smile for pictures. It cracks me up because YES, he IS smiling, BUT it almost looks like he's getting ready to bite you as well!

We did venture out to Target for a really quick trip to pick up a few things we really needed to get. This was Poppy's first outing so of course she needed to wear a cute outfit. Luckily we got this picture right before we were going out the door...and THEN about half a second after this picture was snapped, this tiny little thing blew out her diaper and off it went to be washed. So much for that idea!

Papa, Granny and Uncle Zach came over and Bubsie got to fly around the house a little bit and Zach got to get a free workout...

I thought this picture was really funny because as some of you know, I HAVE to have one leg out of the covers or I feel like I'm going to smother! Apparently I passed this little trait on to Poppy.

And last but not least...who doesn't love a little double chin every now and then???

The first week is flying by! The second baby is SO much easier than the first. I was a wreck with Ezra, but now I know what I'm doing... (mostly;) There have been some rough patches and I would LOVE to have a little extra sleep and I somehow contracted a booger bear of a head cold that I'm dealing with currently, but how can I not be absolutely over the moon about this little girl!!! Ezra is a great helper too! He likes to bring diapers and blankets and he will even throw "dirty's" in the trash can! What more could a mom ask for? Here's some pics to update you on life at the Bailey's...

This is Poppy's first at home bath. It started out a little rocky but then she decided it was pretty relaxing and fell asleep. She is a good little sleeper, but likes sleeping more during the day than at night!

Bubsie loves his Poppy and likes to point out her eyes, nose, ears and mouth.

Most of the day, this is what you will find Poppy doing, just don't plan on seeing this at 3 am!!!

This little face says, "Geez, enough with the kisses!!!" Oh the things babies have to endure.

More sleepy time... I like how she poses her little hands, such a little lady, even at 5 days old! :)

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!!! Think of me when you get up to pee!!!

Welcome Poppy!

Poppy was born on Friday, July 31. She weighed 7lbs. 15 0z. and was 19.5 inches long. I went in at 7:30 am and she arrived at 11:58 am! I warn you now, lots of pictures follow and you may just have a cuteness overload! :) HA!

This is me right before we left the house Friday morning...please don't judge, I didn't sleep at all and had just finished puking-not the ideal way to start the day!

Here's me and little Poppy soon after she was born. Again...I know I look awesome, but try not to be jealous!

Bubsie lit up and was smiling ear to ear when he first met his little sister. He is a very proud big brother and she may be kissed to death by her first birthday!

Poppy and Daddy. I think we have a Daddy's Girl in the making!!!

I couldn't wait to get something girly on her! I have been living with 2 boys for a very long time and I am so excited to see some pink and some bows. I'm gonna have to brush up on my "girliness." I'm a little rusty but I think I could get used to this! :)

This is Caleb's dad, Steve. He's a little bit proud, can you tell? He is such a good grandpa and I know he is going to spoil this little girl just like he does her big brother! We love you grandpa Steve!!! (P.S. Notice the picture in the background... our entire room was decorated in poppy flowers...how cool is that?)

Four generations of girls...Gangy, Me, Mom, and Aunt Mick. Poppy has some pretty cool ladies in her life!

And here's another one...Aunt Cara (Caleb's sister)

This is my brother (Uncle Zach) I like to call this picture "beauty and muscles"...you decide who is who...

A Bubsie kiss!

My parents checking her out, I think they decided she is a keeper!

Here she is all ready to go home!

Hope you enjoyed seeing Poppy's first few days...many, many pictures are in the works daily! Keep checking back! Thanks everyone who came to see us in the hospital and everyone who has called and sent well wishes, we have the best family and friends and we love you all SO MUCH! We can't wait for the rest of you to meet out sweet girl!
